Revolution at Modlin: New terminal from June 30, and the train will go straight to the airport!

Warsaw-Modlin Airport is entering a new era. In response to the constantly growing passenger traffic, the port is putting a modern, new terminal zone into operation on June 30. However, this is not the end of breakthrough news – Marshal Adam Struzik confirmed the announcement of a tender for the construction of a long-awaited direct railway connection that will connect Modlin with the center of Warsaw and Chopin Airport.

An end to queues – the new zone ready for the holiday peak

The existing infrastructure of the airport near Warsaw was struggling to handle the dynamically increasing traffic, which currently reaches up to 15,000 travelers a day. The newly launched auxiliary terminal was designed to increase capacity and ensure a smooth flow of passengers during the hottest holiday period.

In the modernized space, the number of boarding gates has doubled – to eight, and passengers will have six new security checkpoints at their disposal. There are more check-in counters, additional control corridors, expanded waiting areas with comfortable seating, and numerous mobile device charging points. Commercial and gastronomic zones, as well as facilities for families with children and people with disabilities, were also taken care of. The official opening and first check-ins are planned for June 30, 2026.

A breakthrough in access: We know the railway construction schedule

In parallel with the development of the terminal infrastructure, Modlin's biggest communication problem is being solved – access from the center of the capital without the need to transfer to shuttle buses. PKP PLK has already officially announced a tender for the construction of a new, 5.5-kilometer double-track railway line that will connect the current Modlin station directly with a new passenger station right next to the terminal.

Marshal Adam Struzik gave specific timeframes for this investment: construction work in the field will start in 2027, and the first passengers will take a direct train right to the terminal at the end of 2029. The project worth PLN 256 million will also facilitate quick travel between Modlin and Chopin Airport in Okęcie.

Poland as a regional hub – a military accent from Krakow

The dynamic development of the civil airport in Modlin coincided with other important events in the Polish airspace, emphasizing the growing role of the country as a regional transport and logistics hub.

On Monday morning, a military Boeing 737-800 BBJ took off from Kraków-Balice airport, carrying out a special humanitarian medical mission to China. Specialized medical teams and advanced international support equipment were on board the machine. Both the expansion of Modlin and the strategic operations carried out from other Polish ports show full readiness and dynamic activity of both the civil and military aviation sectors in Poland.
