Warsaw-Modlin Airport started operations relatively recently, in July 2012. However, its area has a rich history dating back to the 1930s when it was a military base. During World War II, the airport was used by the Germans, and later, during the Polish People's Republic (PRL) era, it remained a military base. In the 2000s, an idea emerged to transform it for civil aviation needs, and just a few years later, Modlin became one of the key airports in Poland for low-cost airlines.

2. Airlines operating at the airport

The main operator at Modlin Airport is the Irish airline Ryanair, which operates many flights across Europe. Popular destinations include London, Milan, Oslo, Barcelona, and other major European cities. Ryanair is famous for its affordable ticket prices, which makes Modlin attractive to tourists who prefer budget travel.

Currently, Modlin is served almost exclusively by Ryanair, which allows the airport to effectively specialize in low-cost flights. However, every year offers to attract new airlines are considered to expand the list of services and destinations.

In 2022, passenger traffic recovered to the level of 2.9 million people. In 2023, 3.4 million were served. Forecasts for subsequent years indicate further growth in passenger numbers. The airport is actively working on improving infrastructure and attracting more flights, which favors further growth.

Parking. Modlin Airport offers several parking options for passengers. There are three main parking lots: P1 (short-term), P2 and P3 (long-term). Prices depend on the length of stay:

• The first 10 minutes at the P1 parking lot — free of charge, then 10 PLN for the first hour.
• Parking for 24 hours costs around 50 PLN.
• Long-term parking P3 — around 120 PLN per week.

Transport to Warsaw. There are several ways to get from the airport to the center of Warsaw:

• Buses: The ticket cost is around 35-40 PLN. Travel time is around 40-60 minutes, depending on the route and traffic.
• Taxis: The cost of a taxi ride to the center of Warsaw ranges from 160-200 PLN.
• Car rental: Car rental services from companies such as Avis, Hertz, Europcar and others are available at the airport.

Cafes and restaurants. There are several cafes and restaurants at the airport where passengers can eat before or after their flight. The most popular are Costa Coffee, Burger King and several smaller local cafes. Prices are standard for European airports: a cup of coffee costs around 12-15 PLN, dinner — from 30 PLN.

Duty-Free shops. For passengers waiting for their flight, Duty-Free shops are available, where you can buy perfumes, cosmetics, alcohol, souvenirs and other products. Prices are often lower than in regular stores.

Wi-Fi and other amenities. Modlin Airport offers free Wi-Fi access throughout the terminal. In addition, there are charging stations for mobile devices, rooms for mothers with children, as well as a relaxation area.
